About PKN

We are PURPLE KNIGHT NATION!!!

Since I grew up and live in Janesville, people always ask me why I would want to teach in Beloit. For those of you not from the area, there is a certain view of Beloit that people in Janesville hold and vice versa. Beloit Memorial is one of the most culturally diverse schools in the state. One thing for sure is that working in Beloit is not boring. Are there easier schools to work in? -Probably. Are there schools that are more rewarding to work in? -Probably not.

Don't believe the stereotypes about Beloit. Beloit Memorial has some of the state's best students, teachers, support staff, and administration. The students are the reason I get up every morning. There is not a day that goes by that I don't feel like I made a difference in a young person's life.

I think this picture shows how diverse Beloit Memorial is. To start my unit on the Civil Rights Movement, I began by looking at race and racism. I started by having my students go to the front of the class and write their "race" on the board.. I did not give them any other instructions besides that. It was amazing how many different ethnicities were represented in my four classes.
